5G EVE demo at MWC Barcelona 2020 cancelled
On 12 February, the GSMA decided to cancel MWC Barcelona 2020, which was planned to take place on 24-27 February. The annual event formerly known as Mobile World Congress is the largest event for mobile communications worldwide.
5G EVE had planned to demonstrate its results at MWC Barcelona 2020. At the MWC 2020 exhibition, 5G EVE had prepared to present a demo of its portal and validation framework. The 5G EVE portal enables verticals to interface with the 5G EVE facilities in Italy, France, Greece, and Spain and to use the 5G EVE framework for validating 5G-enabled vertical applications.
The 5G EVE demo was planned to be part of a joint stand shared with the 5G Infrastructure Association (5G-IA) as well as the other 5G PPP infrastructure projects 5G-VINNI and 5GENESIS.
The 5G EVE demo was fully aligned with the central theme of MWC 2020, which was ‘Intelligent Connectivity’. The term summarises the combination of flexible, high-speed 5G networks, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and big data. Within the central theme, one of the seven core themes, to which 5G EVE contributes, is ‘Connectivity: The 5G Era’.
