5G EVE for Smart Factories – Panel presentation at 5G Italy 2019
The second edition of 5G Italy took place in Rome on 3-5 December 2019. The major Italian 5G event attracted more than 300 attendees, including leading stakeholders of the Italian 5G community and renowned international keynote speakers. They met in Rome to discuss 5G challenges and opportunities in the areass Media and Tourism, Industry 4.0, eHealth, Transport, Mobility and Automotive, Public Administration, Defence and Security.
5G EVE was an official partner of the event and was represented by Gino Carrozzo, deputy head of R&D at Nextworks. He participated in a panel session on 4 December, which was dedicated to Industry 4.0.
In his presentation, Gino Carrozzo shared the insights gained in the 5G EVE project on Autonomous Guide Vehicles (AGVs) working under 5G network coverage. He pointed out that in order to implement such Industry 4.0 scenarios and services, strong horizontal skills are required in areas like G network architecture, orchestration and control of complex networks, virtualization of network and application functions, automation of testing and validation as well as alignment and development of standards to implement interoperable solutions. He explained that the currently developed 5G EVE platform enables the validation of KPIs for 11 vertical use cases across the 4 countries Italy, Spain, France, and Greece.
The presented 5G EVE solutions created considerable interest among the audience and were highly appreciated by the Italian 5G community.
